Securing quality and efficiency in printing and processing
Paper loses its moisture when subjected to high temperatures. It shrinks, becomes brittle, curls and tends to become electrostatically charged. The possible consequence: Web breaks or paper jams, interference with the shingle stream, in the stacker and with further processing, the fold breaks open, staples drop out, waviness and warping in the spine. The task requires compensating the moisture loss after the drying process.
Moisture withdrawn from the paper during drying should be restored to it. The objective: Optimal shingle stream, flawless stack formation in the stacker, troublefree stacking, clean break, flatness and stable dimensions of the paper.
Remoistening through precisely metered liquid application
WEKO-Fluid-Application-System (WFA) such as WEKO-RFS condition the paper. Micro-droplets are applied to pressing-in rollers supplying moisture to the paper from both sides. The precise moisture supply restores the original running and stacking properties as well as exact flatness to the paper. The result can be seen in troublefree production runs, less paper waste and markedly improved product quality.
Web offset needs WEKO-RFS
The modular design of the WEKO-RFS allows integrating the application units without problems in the chill roller frame of heatset rotary printing presses even subsequently. Additional space is not required. The system is especially suitable for high machine speeds.
