Printing products with perfect quality

With toner-based printing systems for digital continuous printing, toner builds up on machine and plant components, often causing scratches from abrasions on the printed product. Contamination from particles, attracted by static charges, is just as bothersome. The challenge at hand is to protect the paper surface to obtain a perfect print product and to reduce the cleaning effort.

The lubrication emulsion application

Lubrication emulsion protects the surface of the paper against soiling and scratches. The toner cannot build up at the paper guide elements and will not smear either. At the same time, the paper web becomes smoother and static charges are reduced.

The solution

Non-contacting emulsion application

WEKO-Fluid-Application-System (WFA) such as the WEKO-ProCoat protect the paper by a precise emulsion application during the running printing process. Silicon, protecting agents against scratches and abrasions, are added in minute quantities. This protects the surface against abrasion and toner cannot accumulate. In addition, the water-based application produces electrostatic discharge. The result are production runs free from malfunctions, less paper waste and increased quality.

Digital printing needs WEKO-ProCoat

With the WEKO-ProCoat for digital continuous printing, the emulsion is flung via rotors onto the paper web through non-contacting spray application. The application volume can be controlled exactly and flexibly and optimally adapted to the web speed. Control and rinse program are specifically matched to the use of silicon and lubrication emulsions.
